Figured Bubinga Planks: A Signature Collection

These two bubinga sets are a rare find. One of our sourcing partners and good friends, Patrick, could not bear to have it cut up, so we are offering them as full, one of a kind, tops. He has been a woodsman all his life, and when describing the size and color of the planks he says “It does not get any more beautiful”. The stock is all matching.

About Bubinga:

Guibourtia Demeusei (botanical name) is a plant genus of the family Fabaceae (legume family). This genus is well-known for its luxury timbers and it contains 16 to 17 species of which the best-known timber is bubinga. These species are found in equatorial Africa, from southeast Nigeria, through Cameroon and Gabon to the Congo region. They occur in swampy or periodically inundated forests, as well as near rivers or at lakeshores.

Bubinga is sometimes referred to as African rosewood, essingang or buvenga. It dries easily with little degradation, and is stable in use. It works easily with hand or power tools. We suggest a reduced cutting angle for interlocked grain and pre-drilling for nailing.
